The foundation collects gently worn athletic shoes. They are then cleaned and refurbished. These shoes are passed on to those in need so they can start or continue their running careers.
The foundation has been able to distribute 60,000 pairs of shoes over the past five years, supporting high school running programs, elementary schools, homeless shelters, Boys & Girls Clubs, working wardrobes, soup kitchens and churches.
TO OUR SPECIAL FRIEND, CYNTHIA HOLCOMB.
On October 13, 2003 we lost a very special friend when Cynthia Holcomb died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 48. She was more than special, she was angelic, and touched the lives of many people specially children. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have spent time with Cynthia know she would do anything, for anybody, any time. What she cherished most was helping children, especially in their pursuit of excellence in the activity of their choice.
Cynthia was constantly finding ways to assist kids with their activities. One of her projects was helping with the Magic Shoe Foundation.
Running was also a large part of her life, so we dedicate the Magic Shoe race to the memory and spirit of this wonderful individual!
